  Electrolysis

What is electrolysis?

Electrolysis was discovered over 130 years ago by an ophthalmologist, who used the procedure to remove inverted eyelashes, which were causing blindness in many of his patients. Eventually, electrolysis became recognized as a safe and permanent way to remove hair from anywhere on the body except inside the ears and nose. Basically, electrolysis is the use of two kinds of current used individually or simultaneously to destroy the source of nourishment to the hairs.

Electrolysis is the most permanent removal of unwanted hair by way of using electrical currents. It is a highly skilled subject and students must have a calm disposition, steady hand and good eyesight to be proficient. All techniques of Electrolysis are taught - Galvanic,Thermolysis (Short Wave Diathermy), and the Blend. A certain amount of Anatomy and Physiology is covered in the course, paying specific attention to the Endocrine System.

Electrolysis is the only safe method of permanent hair removal and it is medically approved. In electrolysis a fine wire filament (probe) is inserted into the hair follicle (a natural opening in the skin). A small amount of electric current is passed down the probe and the action of the current destroys the root of the hair. Once the hair is loosened it is then gently removed from the follicle with tweezers. A slight heat sensation is felt.
